Technology / Service Summary

JGC designs systems and provides equipment to efficiently and stably synthesize ammonia from hydrogen produced by water electrolyzers using fluctuating renewable energy sources and other sources.

Purpose

Production of Green Ammonia from variable renewable energies for easier transportation of Clean Energy

Feature

Ammonia synthesis at Lower Pressure and Temperature than conventional, and Dynamic operation of ammonia synthesis to fit with variable renewable energies

Effect

To reduce energy consumption and optimize the overall plant configuration, which result in minimization of green ammonia production cost. Ammonia can be utilized for existing market, such as fertilizer and chemicals, and new market, such as fuel for thermal power plant and marine transportation. In addition, ammonia is one of the hydrogen carriers and hydrogen can be produced by cracking of ammonia.
