Technology / Service Summary

Fluorescent lamps are crushed, separated, washed. Recycled glass can be transformed into some glass material and other. Recovered metallic bases including Al are converted into Al raw material.

Purpose

To recover mercury from used fluorescent lamp

Feature

Nomura Kohsan can recover not only mercury, but also glass and aluminum.

Effect

Almost 100 percentage of used flourescent lamp can be recycled.

Accomplishments

In Japan, Nomura Kohsan treated 9,000t of used flourescent lamps in 2020.
Nomura Kohsan have imported 75t of used flourescent lamps from the Philipines under the Basel Convention since 2007.
