Technology / Service Summary

This system is an initiative to recycle and use the resources and energy generated at the sewage treatment plant for plant cultivation in greenhouses installed around the treatment plant.

Purpose

① Effective use of resources and energy generated at sewage treatment plants
② Employment measures utilizing green areas and farmlands around sewage treatment plants
③ Expansion into agricultural business in collaboration with local communities
④ Utilization as a regional disaster prevention base by taking advantage of the characteristics of an energy self-sufficient treatment plant

Experiment at the Nishikawa Purification Center in New City, Niigata Prefecture.
"Wasabi" is cultivated in a cold room in the summer, and "basil" is cultivated in a greenhouse in the winter.
