ReseamST®

Technology / Service Summary

ReseamST® is a biomass plastic manufactured by blending renewable corn starch which can reduce petroleum usage.

Purpose

Main raw material of ReseamST® is corn starch, so that can contribute to reduce usage of fossil resource and reduce greenhouse gas emission.
This is based on policy to change the raw materials of container packaging and other products from general plastic to renewable material such as biomass plastics which presented by Japanese government in the plastic recycling strategy.

Feature

Deal with various molding methods such as blow, injection, inflation, and also sheet molding.
ReseamST® can easily squashed and rolled by hand. It can be kept in a rounded shape and contribute to reduce volume of garbage.
Thanks to inquiries from various industry, ReseamST® sheet extrusion mass production equipment was newly installed in Tohoku factory (Taiwa-cho, Kurokawa-gun, Miyagi) in January 2022.
Moreover, we can provide trays to achieve the labor power saving and biomassification, which was made, developed and collaborating with machinery and equipment manufacturer that is able to put products in and seal together. This is a countermeasure of decrease the work force in the future.

Effect

Reduction of emission has been proven by worldwide standards LCA which procedures are standardized by ISO 14040 series. (Methods for quantitatively evaluating resource inputs, environmental impacts, and their effects on the earth and ecosystems over the life cycle of a product) According to LCA figures in 2013, the reduction of CO2 emission was calculated to be approximately 32%. CO2 emissions at container disposal of general-purpose PP is 3.17kg and ReseamST® is 1.36kg. This means ReseamST® per kg reduced 57% of CO2 emission and around 1,600t from 2014 to 2020 in total.
ReseamST® can add cold, light, and microwave oven(heat) durability by changing properties of composition that can utilize various usage such as food and cosmetics container, and distribution materials.
Using ReseamST® instead of general plastic can reduce CO2 emission.
