Agriculture ICT Solution

Technology / Service Summary

Services for visualizing the growing conditions of crops and the state of soil using sensors and satellite photos and AI-based farming advice services

Purpose

-

Feature

An AI system that has learned the know-how of experienced farmers gives instructions about how much water and fertilizer to apply as well as when to water and fertilize. Farmers who introduce this service can stabilize their yields and cut farming costs, regardless of whether they are experienced and skilled.
Also, this service enables a processing company to comprehensively grasp the growing conditions of crops in their farm fields as well as in those of contract farmers. This makes it possible for the company to adjust harvesting in an overall optimized manner based on objective data, leading to increased productivity.
The business is already underway targeting overseas large-scale farms. In Japan, there are multiple ongoing demo trials to commercialize the service in the domestic market.
NEC will continue to drive the digitization of agriculture to address global issues, such as food shortages, shrinking working population and climate change, with the goal of realizing sustainable agriculture.
