Reduce energy consumption in data center by high-efficiency heat management

Technology / Service Summary

In the data centers, energy consumption for cooling accounts for 45% in total so high-efficiency thermal management is essential. Our water-cooling modules can reduce energy consumption by 20~30%.

Purpose

Air-cooling fans would not cool CPU and GPU by 2025 due to improvement of CPU and GPU performance. Furthermore, data centers are rapidly increasing because 5G and generative AI are spreading.
Accordingly, direct chip cooling method technology using water-cooling modules is essential. This method can reduce the load for air conditioning in the data center by 20~30%.

Feature

Nidec guarantees high quality, high reliability and high durability for water-cooling modules by using the technology that Nidec has developed in HDDs regarding measures against the risk of water leakage.
Another strength of this water-cooling module is its hot-swap system. It allows to switch to a non-breaking unit when the unit breaks so that the server does not stop.

Effect

The water-cooling module can reduce the load for air conditioning in the data center by 20~30% because our modules improve cooling efficeincy compared to the air-cooling system.
Energy consumption for thermal management will tend to increase due to the improvement of microprocessors but this water-cooling module can contribute to reducing energy consumption of the entire data center.
