CO2 capture, conversion, and utilization technology from once-through boilers used in the manufacturing industry
Nitto Denko Corporation
Technology / Service Summary
Low-concentration CO2 in the exhaust gas is highly concentrated using gas separation membrane technology and converted to formic acid using chemical conversion technology.
Purpose
CO2 emissions, which are heat energy after fossil combustion used by the manufacturing industry, are captured by gas separation membranes, and the captured CO2 is converted to formic acid and other substances for effective use, contributing to corporate decarbonization.
Feature
Nitto manufactures and sells separation membranes for water treatment. The gas separation membranes used in this technology make use of Nitto's unique and superior polymer material design, porous membrane formation, roll thin-layer coating, and element technology, which have been cultivated over many years.
Effect
Gas separation membrane technology: currently being verified on a pilot scale (300 t/y)
CO2 conversion technology: currently being verified on a laboratory scale, up to formic acid conversion using hydrogen and CO2 derived from biogas
