Technology / Service Summary

Nitto Denko aims to contribute to a sustainable circular society through innovation leveraging our strengths in products and services.
For over 50 years, we have been engaged in water treatment using separation membranes, one of our environmental contribution technologies. Leveraging our accumulated expertise in separation technology, we are developing diverse separation technologies that contribute to decarbonization and the circular economy.
In the decarbonization field, we are developing CO₂ separation membranes capable of capturing CO₂ from factory exhaust gases.
Furthermore, in the circular economy, we enable the concentration and efficient recycling of alcohol from factory wastewater containing alcohol components.

Purpose

・Contributing to decarbonization through CO₂ separation membranes
・Establishing resource circulation processes using alcohol separation membranes

Feature

・CO₂ Separation Membrane: Developed a membrane with high affinity for CO₂ through proprietary polymer design. Achieves highly efficient separation of CO₂ from combustion exhaust gases, which was difficult with conventional molecular sieve technology.
・Alcohol Separation Membrane: Provides separation suitable for efficient recovery of valuable substances with higher safety compared to distillation methods.

Effect

・CO₂ Separation
Efficiently recovers CO₂ generated from combustion exhaust gases at small-to-medium-sized factories and similar facilities, contributing to Scope 1 reduction by enabling its utilization.
・Alcohol Separation
By integrating into bioalcohol fermentation processes, contributes to the reuse of raw materials like yeast and efficient alcohol concentration. Additionally, when applied to wastewater from semiconductor manufacturing plants and similar facilities, it concentrates contained alcohol-based solvents, enabling their reuse.
