Overview The ASEAN-Japan Environment Week to commemorate 50th anniversary took place alongside of the ASEAN-Japan Ministerial Dialogue on Environment and Climate Change (AJMDEC).
At the conference, H.E. Mr. Akihiro NISHIMURA, Minister of the Environment, H.E. Mr. Kenichi KOBAYASHI, Ambassador, Embassy of Japan in the Lao PDR, and H.E. Dr. Saynakhone INTHAVONG, Vice Minister, Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment, the Lao PDR, high-level participants attended, which helped convey to ASEAN officials and local companies the importance of public-private partnerships in Japan's environmental technologies.

The Environment Week aims to promote Japan's environmental initiatives and technologies, enhance international environmental cooperation, and foster the adoption and dissemination of environmental infrastructure to contribute to environmental improvement and sustainable development in developing countries.

As the year 2023 marked the 50th anniversary of ASEAN-Japan friendship and cooperation, the ASEAN-Japan Environment Week took place alongside of the ASEAN-Japan Ministerial Dialogue on Environment and Climate Change (AJMDEC) and addressed the environmental issues and needs of ASEAN countries and shared Japan's knowledge, experience, environmental technologies, and solutions through the Environmental Infrastructure Technology Seminar.

The event also included a technology exhibition and thematic seminars. The exhibition allowed Japanese and ASEAN companies to showcase their advanced technologies and facilitated business matching. Lively discussions in the thematic seminars deepened participants' understanding of usefulness of Japanese environmental technologies and environmental business development in ASEAN.
