Innovative Technologies of Hydrogen Power Generation and Hydrogen Production for Energy Transition

Technology / Service Summary

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Ltd. has various low-carbon and decarbonization technologies to ensure a smooth energy transition all over the world.

Purpose

MHI Gr. is developing decarbonization technologies for thermal power to realize carbon neutrality.

Feature

The features of hydrogen gas turbines are (1) minimal investment because they replace only a part of an existing thermal power plant, (2) carrier agnostic to use a variety of hydrogen carriers and purity levels, (3) driver of demand for hydrogen, and (4) flexible operation versus output of renewable energy.

Effect

Hydrogen gas turbines are being developed to comply with the European Taxonomy's CO2 emissions regulations.
In addition, MHI is constructing the Takasago Hydrogen Park, the world’s first center for technology validation of the hydrogen value-chain to steadily develop a hydrogen ecosystem.
