Japan Platform for Redesign: Sustainable Infrastructure (JPRSI)

JPRSI Online Pavilion

Technology / Service Summary

The wire rope and wire mesh netting absorbs the energy of rockfall. Designed with an allowable bearing capacity within the elastic limit, it is a high-energy-absorbing protection system that is able to repeatedly receive rockfalls. It allows for construction on stream-like landscapes and uneven natural slopes as a countermeasure for the roadside where there is no space along the road. The top of openings in the upper part of the net allow it to catch rocks that occur at high elevations.
